São Paulo – Vice president José Alencar will not be attending the Dilma Rousseff inauguration as he so much wanted to do. However, on Thursday (December 30) he was moved out of intensive care and into a room at the Sirio-Libanês hospital in São Paulo.
Alencar has been fighting abdominal cancer for 13 years, during which time he has had 17 operations. On December 22 he had internal bleeding and went back to hospital.
Doctors report his condition is now stable.
This afternoon, after he arrives in São Paulo, the then former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is expected to visit Alencar.
